Abstract

871,118. Roller skates. DAVIES STEEL SPECIALITIES Ltd. Nov. 3, 1959 (Nov. 13. 1958], No. 36505/58. Class 132(1). [Also in Group XXXIV] A roller skate wheel bearing unit has a flanged hub 11, a cupped outer race 15, and a housing 19 made of thermoplastic material which surrounds the outer race 15 and which has a double radial flange 21 at one end for abutting against the wheel 23 and against the flange 12 of the hub 11. The inner end of the housing, which may be castellated, is moulded over the outer race 15 under heat and pres- ,sure to secure the assembly together. A metal inner race member 13 may be interposed between balls 18 and the hub, which may be of nylon. The outer race -15 can be made of metal or of synthetic plastic material, and the housing may be formed from polyvinylchloride or polyethylene. The flange 12 of the hub 11 may be curved for engagement with the balls.
