870,492. Wrapping-machines. FOXGROVE MACHINERY CO. Nov. 12, 1959 [Nov 28, 1958], No. 38504/58. Class 94(1). A continuously rotating wrapping wheel of a lunch wrapping machine comprises a series of pocketed members each of which has grippers for locating a wrapper in front of the pocket for carrying therein by the article to be wrapped. The members 12 have grippers 24 which hold the leading end of the wrapper and are opened at station A to receive the wrapper from roller feed means, Fig. 3 (not shown) and again at station B when a plunger 41 moves an article 50 out of a feed wheel recess 37 into a pocket 13. Each member 12 is pivoted on the wheel at 14 and has a roller 16 running in a cam track 17 so shaped as to cause the member to decelerate at stations A and B and discharge station F so facilitating transfer of the wrapper and article to and from the wheel. Articles pass from a magazine 36 to the feed wheel recesses 37 and the plunger 41 oscillates on its shaft 43 so as to retain alignment with the recesses during transfer. The protruding wrapper ends are folded down by means 45, 46, heat sealed at station D and the seal is cooled at station E. A plunger ejects each wrapped article at station F.
