Plastics bristle material 1 is so bound or fused together at one end that each tuft so formed has an enlarged head 3 so that the head nests in an enlarged section 6 of a tuft receiving bore in the stock 4 of a brush. The tuft is bonded in the bore by the subsequent application to the head of the tuft of a solidifying substance 8.
