870,270. Generating combustion products under pressure. GARRETT CORPORATION. Aug. 14, 1957, No. 25722/57. Class 51 (1). [Also in Group XXVI] The combustion chamber 27, Fig. 11, of a jetpropulsion engine contains four struts 52 which support conical section 53 having a screen base portion 54 upon which is deposited finelydivided platinum; oxidant is directed through a passage 29 and a nozzle against the platinum which acts as a catalyst to maintain the flame. The afterburner may be of similar construction and comprise four similar conical sections located at the intersections of four radial V-shaped struts with a V-shaped ring supported by the struts, Figs. 4 and 9 (not shown).
