Class 7(2) [Also in Groups XII and XXVI] In a jet propulsion system for ramjets, rockets or after burners including a duct 23 in wich combustion takes place rendering the system susceptible to " screech, " there is, to eliminate the latter, means disposed within the duct comprising a perforated liner 26 and longitudinally disposed ribs 28 extending inwardly from the wall of the duct. As shown, the liner, of stainless steel or " Inconel " (Registered Trade Mark), is supported by the ribs 28 and preferably concentrically of the duct, the spacing of the liner from the duct being about 1 to 10 per cent of the diameter of the duct. Preferably four or more ribs are used, the depth of the ribs being about 15 per cent of the diameter of the duct. The duct or the liner may be longitudinally corrugated, the depth and pitch of the corrugations being respectively about 2 per cent and 6 per cent of the diameter of the duct; also, the liner may be tapered.
