Abstract
869,873. Piezo-electric switches. WESTREX CO. Ltd. Sept. 11, 1959, No. 31014/69. Class 38 (5). A tubular vibrating reed a carries a springy wire loop contact j for co-operation with fixed contacts k and is clamped at its other end to a part b<SP>1</SP> bent up from a metal plate coupling member b which is fixed to a casing o by screws c. The member b is bent as shown to hold the reed a in a socket b<SP>2</SP> and its end b<SP>4</SP> engages one end of a piezo-electric body e. The other end of body e is pressed downwards by a flat spring g held between blocks q carried by casing o and adjustable by a screw f. The cross-piece of a wire frame s acts as a pivot between the body e and a raised part h of casing o, and is adjustable along the length of body e by means of a screw i. The wire forming contact loop j extends inside reed a and is connected to member b which has a terminal tag n. An alternating drive voltage of appropriate frequency is connected to body e via tag n and member b on the one side, and a tag m, screw i and frame s on the other side. Screw i provides a fine adjustment of the frequency of vibration of reed a. Specification 819,907 is referred to.
