Abstract

759,539. Thermal switches. KIEFT & CO., Ltd., C., and KIEFT, C. W. March 16, 1955 [March 16, 1954], No. 7566/54. Class 38(5) A snap-action switch comprises compression members extending in opposite directions towards each other from a tension member with their free ends pivotally engaging a fixed support, the tension member being engaged by an operating member and adjustably held at one end in such a way as to permit longitudinal movement of the tension member. The compression members 10 are resilient and engage pivots 6, whilst compression members 12 are rigid and engage pivots 7. The moving contact 13 normally engages a fixed contact and is .carried by a cross-piece 11 joining members 12 and the tension. member 8, the other end of which is joined to the members 10 by a cross-piece 9. The member 8 is adjustably fixed to the base 4 by a screw 21 passing freely through a hole 22 in the member 8 and surrounded by a spring 23. The operating member 24 may be carried by an adjustable bimetal strip (Fig. 1, not shown).
