Abstract
869,823. Measuring electrically. HATTON, A. E., and STEER, A. T. Sept. 18, 1958 [June 18, 1957], No. 19220/57. Class 40 (1). [Also in Groups XX and XXXVI] Resistors are made by subjecting foils as of platinum, palladium, gold, silver, nickel-chrome or nickel-copper alloy and less desirably of iron or other metal of about 0.002 inches thick to " equipotential " and " chemical machining " etches successively (see Group XX), until the thickness is about 0.00005 inch, cleaned, sensitized with a " Kodak " (Registered Trade Mark) resist, exposed to produce an image of the desired resistor developed and treated to remove unprotected metal and remaining resist. In use the resistor may be stuck by a ceramic cement to a turbine blade to form a test strain gauge and connected in a Wheatstone bridge circuit to a dummy identical strain gauge and the strains to which the test gauge is subjected followed on an oscillograph; or the resistors may be used in computors or for thermometrical purposes.
