To maintain the shape of flexible " squeeze " containers substances are added to the contents which, by decomposing or by reacting with another substance in the container or forming part of the container walls, slowly evolve gas and thus replace that taken up by the contents, or counteract changes of gas volume due to temperature. A hydrolysing substance such as hydroxylamine hydrochloride may be added to liquid detergent ; sodium carbonate and citric acid mixed dry may be added; hydrogen peroxide may be catalytically decomposed by copper salts. Clathrates may be used which liberate gas on elevation of temperature. The container wall may contain copper and hydrogen peroxide be added to the contents.
