Abstract
869,593. Electrostatic precipitation. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A. G. Oct. 1, 1959 [Nov. 4, 1958], No. 33364/59. Class 39(1). In a rapping mechanism for the collecting electrodes of an electrostatic precipitator, a spring-loaded rapper bar 2 is pendantly suspended at each end, inside the precipitator housing by the collecting plates and externally by a pendulum 5 of much shorter length, the attachment 4 to the hanger arm comprising a bolt which is torsionally rotated in metal/rubber bushes so that there is exerted a restoring force additional to that of the spring 15 when the hanger arm is deflected by an eccentric rapping finger 9. The angle of torsional deflection is between 6 and 20 degrees. The impact member 7 is carried by the lower end 6 of the pendulum 5 which is bent slightly inwards. The rapping finger 9 is mounted on a revolving shaft 8. A sprocket 10 on the shaft 8 is driven by a chain 12 from a motor or through gearing 11. The rapper shaft 8 is common to all the collecting plates. The rapper bar carries a bellows 17 for sealing the opening in the precipitator housing. The upper end of the pendulum 5 consists of a suspension rod having a rubber spring member 21 as supporting disc for the screw connection. The various parts of the mechanism are readily dismountable.
