Abstract

558,171. Electrostatic precipitation apparatus. LODGE-COTTRELL, Ltd., and LODGE, L. Aug. 7, 1942, No. 11043. [Class 39 (i)] The thin rod or stout wire electrodes a, Fig. 2, have attached to their lower ends a cylindrical ferrule c with a square head c<SP>1</SP>, by which they are attached to a weight d by means of a key-hole slot e. The upper end of the weight is formed as a hook, so that on breakage of the electrode, the weight drops on and is retained by a bar g of the frame to which the electrodes are attached. Preferably the lower part of the weight is formed as a hook which embraces the bar g in the operative position of the electrode. The upper end of the electrodes is secured to another bar by lead burning. In apparatus for the treatment of acid or other corrosive mists, all the exposed parts are coated with a resistant material such as lead.
