Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0869474/IV (b)/1> (wherein R and R1 are hydrogen atoms or alkyl radicals and R1 and R2 are alkyl radicals, the alkyl radicals each containing at most 4 carbon atoms) and their preparation by the following methods (1) condensation of the amine NHR1R2 or a salt thereof with the appropriate acid or ester; (2) condensation of the amide Hal,CH(R1)CONR1R2 (wherein Hal is a halogen atom) with the appropriate heterocyclic amine; (3) for the preparation of the tertiary amines, introduction of the group R into the secondary amines by alkylation with, for example, alkyl halides, dialkyl sulphates or, for methylation, a mixture of formalin, formic acid and sodium formate; and (4) for the preparation of the dimethylamides, reaction of dimethylamine with the appropriate acid chloride or bromide. Examples describe the preparation of compounds of the above formula in which R is variously hydrogen or methyl, R1 is variously hydrogen or methyl and R1 and R2 are variously both methyl or both ethyl, one product being isolated as an oxalate. Amide starting materials are prepared from halo-acid halides and amines. The preparation of the dimethylamides of chloro- and bromo-acetic acids and alpha-bromo-propionic acid is referred to.ALSO:Aqueous solutions suitable for injection contain as the essential active ingredient a compound of the general formula <FORM:0869474/VI/1> (wherein R and R1 are hydrogen atoms or alkyl radicals and R1 and R2 are alkyl radicals, the alkyl radicals each containing at most 4 carbon atoms). These compounds are stated to have antipyretic and analgesic activity.
