Novel N - (1 - substituted cycloalkyloxyalkyl) - N<SP>1</SP> - carboalkoxy - piperazine derivatives of the general formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> represents hydrogen, phenyl or monohalogenphenyl, R<SP>2</SP> represents a C 1-4 alkyl, m is 0 or an integer from 0 to 12, n is an integer from 4 to 7 and A represents a saturated or unsaturated, straight or branched chain alkylene group of 2 to 5 carbon atoms; and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts and quaternary ammonium derivatives are prepared by reacting a tertiary alcohol of the general formula wherein R<SP>1</SP>, m and n have the same meanings as above, or an alkali salt thereof with an N-halogen alkyl-N<SP>1</SP>-carboalkoxy-piperazine of the general formula wherein R<SP>2</SP> and A have the same meanings as above and the Hal represents a halogen atom; or reacting a substituted piperazine derivative of the general formula wherein R<SP>1</SP>, A, m and n have the same meanings as above and R<SP>3</SP> represents C 1-4 alkyl, with a chloroformic acid ester of the general formula Cl-COOR<SP>2</SP> wherein R<SP>2</SP> has the same meaning as above, in the presence of an anhydrous solvent and of a basic condensing agent and optionally converting the obtained product into a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt or a quaternary ammonium derivative. Pharmaceutical compositions of the above compounds have a spasmolytic effect and also a marked analgetic activity.
