Abstract
869,348. Purifying charge. MASSEY-FERGUSON Inc. Oct. 28, 1957 [Nov. 7, 1956], No. 33487/57. Class 7(2). [Also in Group XXXI] A harvester is driven by an engine 15 with a radiator 28 cooled by air drawr through a screen 34 and a duct A by a fan 29, a baffle 66 being moved periodically to a position in which it blocks the screen from the fan. When the duct A is blocked, air is drawn through a screer 38 and a duct B, the baffle being oscillated between the two positions by a crank 88 driven at about 5 r.p.m. from the straw walker shaft 16 of the harvester to which it is coupled by a worm gear 79 and a flexible collar 77. The baffle is pivotally mounted at the end of a vertical fixed baffle 60 between the ducts A, B and has a flexible blade 72 to form a sealing fit with the screens 34, 38. The periodic interruption of the air flow allows chaff and other material to fall from the screens which are made from perforated sheet metal. A pipe 58, an air filter 56 and a pipe 59 supply air to the carburetter. The straw walker shaft 16 is driven by a pulley 18 and a belt 19 from the engine-driven fanning mill shaft 20.
