Abstract

869,263. Machinery frames. SOC. ALSACIENNE DE CONSTRUCTIONS MECANIQUES. June 3, 1958 [June 5, 1957], No. 17721/58. Class 80 (4). A frame for a textile machine comprises a number of frame sections assembled end-to-end, each section comprising a number of folded sheet metal channel structures as shown in Fig. 1, welded to folded sheet metal bracing members. Each frame section directly carries the spindles and other machine parts appropriate to its position in the complete machine. As shown, each frame section is symmetrical about a central vertical plane and comprises at each side thereof a metal sheet 1 folded along horizontal lines to produce successively the faces 2 ... 9; and at the top a single metal sheet 14 folded to produce the faces 15 ... 19. The sheets 1, 14 are interconnected by vertical sheet metal posts 11 welded to a separate planar sheet 12, which could alternatively be formed as a bent extension of the sheet 1. Transverse bracing members 21, 22 of inverted U-section are welded between the pairs of faces 3, 18 respectively, the members 21 also supporting the ports 11. On each side reinforcing strips 23 and 24 are welded respectively between the vertical faces 15, 18 and between the horizontal face 8 and the members 21. Longitudinal reinforcing angle irons 41 are also provided. Each frame section has four feet 31 carrying levelling screws 34 seating in sheet metal bases 32 which are wide enough to receive the feet of adjacent frame sections and thus couple the sections together. As described for a spinning machine, Figs. 2, 3 (not shown), adjacent frame sections are also coupled by being bolted to common bearing supports for the longitudinal shaft driving the spinning spindles and by being bolted to common supports for the columns on which slide the horizontal rods carrying the rings and anti-balloon wires.
