Abstract

An article at least part of the surface of which is liable to be subjected to erosion or abrasion, e.g. a steam turbine blade, is characterized in that at least that part is composed of an eutectiferous Ti-base alloy consisting of either Ni 20-35% and Cu 0-10% or Mn 35-45% or Co 20-32% or Si 6-10%, Ti being the balance in each case. The remainder of the article may be formed from titanium or another Ti-base alloy and the eutectiferous titanium-alloy may be deposited by an inert gas-shielded arc-welding process.
