Abstract
An electrical contact for use with automatic cut-outs or the like consists of a first and a second metal component which components have a limited miscibility in the liquid state, the first component having a liquid phase in the range 200-400 DEG C. and constituting from 5% to 20% of the contact and being Pb, Tl, Bi, In, Sn or Cd, the second component having a melting point above 400 DEG C. and consisting of one or more of the metals Al, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn and Be in accordance with the following combinations. Pb may be associated with Al, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni and/or Cu, Tl with Al, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni and/or Cu, Bi with Al, Cr, Fe, Co and/or Zn, In with Al. Sn with Be, Cr and/or Co and Cd with Al. The electrical contact may be produced by fusion or by a sintering process.
