Abstract
The invention comprises dibenzo-thia-azacycloheptadienes of the formula: <FORM:0869089/IV (b)/1> and acid addition salts thereof, wherein R is an amino group disubstituted by alkyl and/or cycloalkyl groups or by an alkylene radical which may optionally be interrupted by a hetero-atom, each of the substituents on the amino group containing not more than 6 carbon atoms and A is an alkylene radical containing not more than 6 carbon atoms, which compounds contain at least one methyl or methoxy substituent in the 6, 7, 8 or 9 positions. The compounds are prepared by treating the corresponding dibenzo-thia-aza-cycloheptadiene ester unsubstituted in the 10-position with a reactive ester of an alcohol of the formula R,A,OH such as a halide or organic sulphonate, and if desired, a base obtained is converted into an acid addition salt thereof. The dibenzo-thia-aza-cycloheptadiene reactant may suitably be used in the form of its metal salt or alternatively the reaction may be carried out in the presence of a condensing agent such as an alkali or alkaline earth metal or an amide, hydride, hydrocarbon compound or alcoholate thereof. Examples describe the preparation of b -methyl-10-dimethylamino-ethyl -11-oxo - dibenzo-[b:f]-thia- (1) - aza-(4)-cycloheptadiene-2:6 and other derivatives containing a 10-N:N-dimethyl-, diethyl- or methyl-isopropyl-, aminoalkyl)- substituent and at least one methyl or methoxy substituent. Specification 802,901 is referred to.ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions having antihistaminic and antiserotonin action comprise compounds of the formula <FORM:0869089/VI/1> wherein R is an amino group disubstituted by alkyl and/or cycloalkyl groups or by an alkylene radical which may be interrupted by a hetero-atom, each of these substituents containing not more than 6 carbon atoms, and A is an alkylene radical containing not more than 6 carbon atoms, which compounds contain at least one methyl or methoxy substituent in the 6, 7, 8 or 9 position, or acid addition salts thereof (see Group IV (b)), in admixture with a pharmaceutical organic or inorganic solid or liquid carrier, suitable for enteral, parenteral or local administration. The products may suitably take the form of tablets, dragees, salves, creams, solutions, suspensions or emulsions.
