Abstract
869,000. Brushes. ANDREWS, R. I. March 17, 1960 [March 18, 1959], No. 9320/59. Class 19. In order to cause tapering of the tip of the bristle portion 11 of a paint brush there is secured to the ferrule of the brush a bridle 10. The bridle consists of a plate 10a extending the full width of the bristle portion 11, the plate having downturned edges 10b. From the centre of the plate 10a rearwardly extends an integral strip 10c which at the rear end 10d bears on the ferrule 13 of the brush. An adjustment screw 14 is mounted in the strip 10c and the front plate 10a is biased against the bristle portion 11 to cause tapering of the tip thereof by a rubber band 16. In another embodiment the band 13 is omitted, the portion 10d is bent back under the strip 10c out of contact with the ferrule 13, and the strip 10c is formed with dependant arms 17 that engage the underside of the ferrule when the plate 10a is pressed against the bristle portion 11 by adjusting the screw 14.
