Abstract

A paint roller is removably supported on a feed tube extending therethrough, the portion of the tube exterior to the roller forming a handle and being connected with a canister of the liquid to be applied by the roller, orifices being provided in the feed tube in the roller. As shown, a roller 10, e.g. of foamed rubber or plastic is supported between <PICT:0868894/III/1> <PICT:0868894/III/2> bushes 14 and 15 on a tube 12 having perforations 13, an extension 12a of the tube being provided with a nipple 18 and nut 19 for mounting on the threaded connector 23 of a pump unit 24 mounted in a canister assembly 20. The pump comprises a fixed tube 27 provided with a ball-valve 28, and a tube 25 having a ball-valve 26, the tube 25 being caused to slide telescopically over the tube 27 by operation of a handle 31 acting on a rod 29. In a modification, the roller 10 is mounted on a perforated sleeve which surrounds the tube 12, and the latter is connected by means of a flexible tube to a paint canister, provided with a pump for pressurising the paint.
