Abstract
868,836. Cathode-ray tubes. BUSH & RANK CINTEL Ltd. Feb. 23, 1960 [Feb. 23, 1959], No. 6124/59. Class 39(1). A permanent magnet in a cathode ray tube apparatus is provided with a ferromagnetic shielding member for limiting stray fields of the magnet, the shielding member being of a form such that if of uniform thickness it would in part be saturated by the field, but the thickness of the shielding member being so varied that it is nowhere saturated. As shown the magnet 2 with pole pieces 3, 4 is provided with shielding member 8 formed of a plurality of concentric tubes of decreasing length. Alternatively the shielding member may comprise a tube having a wall thickness decreasing from a maximum in the region of the magnet to a minimum remote therefrom.
