Class 123(1) [Also in Group XIII] In order to prevent corrosion in any one of forced-flow steam generators 1, 2, 3, connected between a pressurized feed water vessel 8 and a steam main 4, when that particular generator is shut down connections are provided between the vessel 8 and points between the ends, on through valves at the inlet ends, of each generator. Pumps 5, 6, 7 feed water from the vessel 8 to the generators 1, 2, 3. As the generator being taken out of service cools down its steam valve 11 is gradually closed and a by-pass valve 9 is opened so that the working medium circulates through a pipe 12, which may incorporate a water separator, into the vessel 8. After further cooling anti-corrosive from a container 19 is pumped into the inlet of the generator until the desired concentration is indicated in an instrument 14. Circulation through the generator is then stopped an inlet valve 15 and the by-pass valve 9 being closed and a valve 16 being opened so that feed water is forced from the vessel 8 through a pipe 10 into the steam generator. A non-return valve 17 can be provided before, after, or instead of the valve 16 and a non-return valve 18 can be incorporated instead of, or additionally to, the valve 15.
