Abstract

867,406. Valve pulse shaping circuits. MARCONI INSTRUMENTS Ltd. May 26, 1959 [Sept. 25, 1958], No. 30735/58. Class 40(6) In a Miller feedback circuit, the anodecathode path of the valve 1, Fig. 2, is connected in series with a resistor 3 and the anode-cathode path of a second valve 7, a control electrode of which is controlled in correspondence with the anode potential of the Miller valve, the resistor and the additional valve constituting a constant current circuit. As shown in Fig. 2, the valve 7 is a triode, and the control electrode, which is the grid, is connected via a battery 8 directly to the anode of valve 1. A switch 5 is shown as a triggering means, although in normal practice a triggering pulse would be used. In further embodiments, the Miller capacitor may be connected via a cathode follower Fig. 3 (not shown) and additionally the source of potential 8 may be replaced by a capacity shunted neon Fig. 4 (not shown). In the circuit shown in Fig. 5, the constant current valve is a pentode 17 with the potential of both screen and control grids controlled by the anode potential of valve 1. The screen grid is connected to one side of a capacity shunted neon 12 whose other electrode is connected to a cathode follower 13, and the control grid potential is derived from another capacity shunted neon 11. The Miller capacitor 2 is connected through a cathode follower 110 across whose load the output is taken from the terminal 9. The circuits described are of the "voltage run-down" type, but may be modified for "voltage run-up".
