Abstract
Cyclic olefines with at least 8 carbon atoms and at least 2 double bonds in the ring, particularly cyclododeca-(1,5,9)-triene and its trimethyl derivatives are formed by the cyclising polymerisation of isoprene, piperylene or butadiene at -20 to 150 DEG C. in the presence of a catalyst comprising a titanium halide with an aluminium trialkyl or dialkyl aluminium hydride with a molar ratio of T11:Al of 1:0,5-2,0. A solvent is preferably present, e.g. an aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon or halogenohydrocarbon. Specification 770,707 also is referred to.
