Abstract

An industrial metal-polishing composition, preferably in brick or block form, comprises by weight (a) 29% stearic acid or sodium stearate, (b) 20% unfused aluminium oxide (220 mesh), (c) 30% powdered lime, (d) 20% soft white silica, and (e) 1% triethanolamine, and is prepared by melting (a), adding (e) followed by (b) and (d), stirring, and then subsequently adding (c) with stirring. The mixture, which may be compressed into blocks, may also contain a perfume such as oil of lavender, oil of Cologne, or oil of jasmin in amounts of 0.01-0.5 fluid ozs. per lb.
