Abstract
866,615. Shearing; embossing. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. Nov. 4, 1958 [Nov. 28, 1957], No. 35371/58. Class 83 (4). In a machine for shearing wire a shear blade is mounted in a slidable block and both are operatively connected through levers on a frame supporting the block to separate control cams which are so relatively timed that the block is moved at the speed of the wire feed during the actuation of the shear. The block 3 has a sleeved wire guide 6 and side plates 8 carrying a blade 10 supported in a slide 9. The slide is pivoted to a connecting rod 13 which is attached through a pivoted lever 16 to a roller 18 which engages a cam 19 on a shaft 41. The block is operated from a cam 23 on the same shaft through a lever 25 pivoted on the frame and a roller 24. A punch 30 for marking the wire is also carried by the block 34 is operated against a spring 33 by a lever 37 secured to the slide 9. In operation, when the leading end of the wire has emerged sufficiently from the guide 6 it makes an electrical contact and so actuates a pneumatic cylinder 53 that causes a finger member 50 to be withdrawn from beneath a key 47 which slides from a sleeve 46 fitted on the cam-shaft 41 into a notch 48 in a driven wheel 43 which then rotates the cam-shaft until the cutting operation has been completed when limit switches operated by the slide 9 actuate the cylinder 53 in the reverse direction and cause the member 50 to uncouple the cam-shaft 41 and the wheel 43.
