Abstract

866,594. Dressing-tables, sideboards &c. HARRIS LEBUS Ltd. Sept. 30, 1957 [Sept. 28, 1956], No. 29737/56. Classes 52(1) and 52(3). In a dressing-table, sideboard &c. having one or more open-topped compartments 4 provided with a lid 12 rearwardly slidable to open position, the lid is connected by a linkage including levers rockable about vertical axes to a sliding supporting surface 7 beneath the compartments in such a manner that pulling out of the part 7 opens the lid. A subsidiary lid 13 is hinged to the front of lid 12 to close the front of the compartments or the lids 12, 13 may be of the roll-top desk type. A fixed shelf 15 is mounted above the compartments 4. As shown in Fig. 5 Parts 7, 12 carry pivoted levers 16, 21 which are pivoted to opposite ends of lever 18 the centre of which is rotatable about a fixed axis 20 so that the parts 7, 12 move in opposite directions. The compartments may be carried on the rear of part 7. According to the Provisional Specification, these parts may be connected by rack and pinion mechanism, tambours, or straps passing round rollers.
