Abstract
The invention comprises the ketonic and phenolic isomerisation products of 1,4-diene3-ones of the androstane- and pregnane series and hydrogenated and esterified derivatives thereof, prepared by a process wherein a D 1,4-3-keto steroid of the pregnane for androstane series of which the ring A has the formula: <FORM:0866362/IV (b)/1> in which each R represents hydrogen or a lower aliphatic hydrocarbon radical is subjected in a solvent to irradiation with ultra violet light, and, if desired, the products thus obtained are hydrogenated and/or esterified. As starting compounds there may be used 1-dehydrostestosterone and esters thereof, 1-dehydro-testosterones having a lower aliphatic hydrocarbon radical in 2,4,6 or 17a position, 1-dehydro compounds of cortisone, hydrocortisone, 11-epihydrocartisone corticosterone, 11-dehydrocorticosterone and the corresponding 9a - or 12a -fluoro, 9a - or 12-chloro- and/or 16a -oxy derivatives of aldosterone, cortexone, progesterone and 11a -, 11b -hydroxy-, 11-keto progesterone.
