Abstract

866,122. Crop sprayers. DRAKE & FLETCHER Ltd. Sept. 7, 1959 [Nov. 4, 1958], No. 35454/58. Class 69 (3). [Also in Groups I and XXVI] A sprayer for attachment to the rear of a tractor &c. has a blower for distributing liquid or powder with a detachable outlet assembly comprising a square casing 26 with a cross-piece 27 dividing it into four passages, each of which has a cylindrical bore rotatably receiving a curved air outlet duct 31 whereby the airstreams can be directed as desired. The blower casing 13 has an outlet conduit 25 with a crosspiece 28 and a spigot 29 which engages an aperture in the cross-piece 27; clips 30 or bolts secure the casing 26, and screws 32 hold the ducts in the desired positions. In a modification the outlet end of each duct is bifurcated to provide two slightly divergent outlets. The blower is supported in a framework 1-4 which carries a pump 12 supplying liquid from a tank 20 to spray nozzles mounted in the duct airstreams. The blower and pump are driven from the power take-off shaft of the tractor via gearing and pulleys 10, 14, 18 and belts 15, 17. Spigots 7 and bars 8 on the framework provide for its detachable connection to the tractor.
