Potatoes, carrots, &c. are conveyed by endless chain rollers 6 from a soaking tank T to the conveyer 14 of a washing tank W, having oscillated spray pipes S, the conveyer 14 comprising separate rotated rubber-pimpled rollers 17 rotated by racks and sprockets which turn over the potatoes &c. and brushing them. The rollers may have alternate large and small sprockets to vary their speed.
