Abstract
865,081. Supporting vehicle lamps. SOC. POUR LA FABRICATION DES PROJECTEURS ELECTRIQUES MARCHAL. March 11, 1959 [March 14, 1958], No. 8346/59. Classes 75(3) and 75(4). [Also in Group XXV] A vehicle headlamp comprises an optical assembly adapted to be mounted in a support, e.g. a casing mounted in an opening in the body of the vehicle, by a plurality of attachment devices distributed on the periphery of the assembly, each attachment device consisting of a support member and a resilient gripping device in which it is engaged. The headlamp 4 may be provided with lugs 5 in each of which is engaged an adjusting screw 6 having a pointed end 6a behind which is a groove 6b. Resilient fixing devices 7, e.g. of rubber, carried by the vehicle body in positions corresponding to the screws 6 have openings into which the ends 6a of the screws are inserted. Alternatively, the screws may be mounted on the body and the resilient devices on the lugs 5. Some of the screws 6 may be replaced by fixed members having similar heads and grooves. To provide for re-orientating the headlamps on changing over from a country where left-hand driving is used to one where right-hand driving is the rule, the resilient devices may be provided in pairs mounted side by side and spaced at the appropriate angle, or two spaced resilient devices may be carried on a common. base. To avoid errors in mounting, the devices not to be used may be closed by plugs or screws. The provide for axial adjustment in the position of the headlamp, the screws may have two grooves or the resilient devices may have an internal rib providing a second position in which the groove can be engaged. Where several lamps are mounted in an assembly, mounting plates having sets of holes to receive the resilient devices may be provided. The resilient devices may serve also to reduce vibration of the lamps.
