Abstract

927,186. Tensioning driving belts. C.A.V. Ltd. Dec. 13, 1961 [Jan. 4, 1961], No. 309/61. Class 80 (1). A belt-driven electric generator 5 pivoted at 10 on a vehicle engine 6 is urged in a belttensioning direction partly by gravity and partly by one or more rubber torsion sleeves on the pivot axis. Each rubber sleeve, Fig. 1 (not shown), is bonded between outer and inner metal sleeves respectively secured to a lug 12 on the engine and a projection 11 on the generator. In a modification the generator has a depending lug adjustably clamped to a slotted lever pivoted on the engine, so that the generator position may be fixed in the belt-tensioning position to which it is urged.
