Apparatus for manufacturing glass articles and comprising in combination a power operated machine 1 for forming the articles, a power operated mechanism 10 for feeding molten glass to the machine and having means for controlling the feed of molten glass, an impulse emitter operatively associated with the forming machine, an impulse receiver operatively associated with the feeding mechanism, an impulse transmission path between the emitter and the receiver, and means responsive to impulses received by the receiver for coupling the feeder mechanism and its power source whereby the feeding mechanism and its control means are actuated. The impulses may be pneumatic, mechanical or electrical. As shown a bottle making machine 1 is operated in conjunction with a glass supply feeding means 10 using pneumatic impulses produced by compressed air operating a piston which in turn indirectly operates a clutch causing a shaft to rotate on which cams 20, 21 are mounted, which actuate respectively mechanism controlling the dispensing and cutting of a charge of glass. The compressed air is emitted in impulses from a device 47 mounted on the bottle making machine and operated in conjunction with a cam 45 mounted on the shaft 4 and provided with a projection 46 which on rotation periodically acts on a piston in the device 47 allowing compressed air impulses out of the device via pipe 34 into a cylinder 30, Fig. 3 (not shown), mounted on the feeding apparatus to operate the piston to which mechanical means are attached operating to allow the machine periodically to dispense the charge of glass.
