863,414. Polypropylene insulated electrical components. MONTECATINI SOC. GENERALE PER L'INDUSTRIA MINERARIA E CHIMICA. June 7, 1957 [June 13, 1956], No. 18155/57. Addition to 810,023. Class 2(6). An electrical component has as insulating material, crystalline linear polypropylene alone or in admixture with up to 40% of amorphous linear polypropylene. The polymer may be prepared as described in the parent Specificaticn and Specification 828,791 and may be used in components such as insulated wire, condensers, valve holders, insulating panels, switches, plugs and cathode ray tubes. High molecular weight polymer (>1,000,000) may first be degraded as described in Specification 835,038. In the production of the electrical components the insulation may be applied to the conductor by means of solution or dispersion in organic media, by extrusion, by machining to shape, or by the application of filaments, strips, sheets, &c. (optionally stretched) which are subsequently fuzed together by heating. In examples dibutyltin-dibutyl mercaptide and triphenyl phosphite are used as polymer stabilizers.
