Abstract

A water-dispersible, pulverulent pesticidal composition containing copper and suitable for making spray liquors is prepared by repeatedly grinding in a high-speed pin mill a mixture consisting of about 44 to 60% of copper oxychloride, about 20% p of a wetting agent and 0.4-5% of partially hydrolysed polyvinyl acetate containing 80-90% free hydroxyl groups as an adherent agent the remainder being inert solid material e.g. chalk, cell pitch powder. In an example 60 kilograms of copper oxychloride, 20 kilograms of cell pitch powder, 5 kilograms of partially hydrolysed polyvinyl acetate containing about 88% of free hydroxyl groups and 15 kilograms of prepared chalk after thoroughly mixing together are ground twice in a pin mill having grinding discs of 350 mm. diameter and working at 9000 revolutions per minute.
