860,586. Assembling mattress springs. BUESST & BILLS BROS. PROPRIETARY Ltd. Nov. 4, 1958 [Nov. 8, 1957], No. 35336/58. Class 52(4). [Also in Group XXII] An attachment to'a machine for connecting the coil springs of a mattress by helical springs comprises helical spring engaging means movable into a position in the path of travel of the connecting helicals, and operable in that position to engage and bend or clench a coil of said helical against the main length thereof. Adjacent rows of mattress springs, held between movable and fixed jaws 14a, 14 of clamps 12, each clamp being closed independently by its respective hand lever 36, are connected by a helical wire fed from a head 17 through helical grooves 16 in the clamps 12.
