759,177. Upholstery spring assemblies. ELSON & ROBBINS, Ltd. Nov. 15, 1954 [Nov. 16, 1953], No. 31716/53. Class 52(4). [Also in Group XVII] Relates to the packing of spring assemblies for mattresses comprising rows 1 of vertical coil springs 2 the upper and lower turns of which are linked together by tie-wires 3. According to the invention, between certain pairs of rows, one of the tie wires is omitted as at 5 and 6 so that the assembly can be folded about the other wire e.g. as shown. Several folded assemblies can be compressed and baled together. Where the tie wires are omitted, the springs may carry connecting elements for subsequent joining.
