Abstract
859,635. Overhead conductors. BORGWARNER CORPORATION. March 31, 1958, No. 10310/58. Class 36 An overhead conductor for an electric trolley apparatus, e.g. a crane, is made from metal strip bent as shown in Fig. 5 to form upper and lower loops 4, 5 of the same diameter connected by a web 6-8. The symmetry of the conductor enables it to be turned over when the lower loop becomes worn by contact with the collector shoe. The conductor is made in sections and adjacent sections are joined by connector pins 10, Fig. 7. Each connector pin has a shoulder 11 of the same diameter as the loops 4, 5 and selftapping threads 14, 15. The sections are additionally connected by plates carrying studs passing through holes 17a, 18a or by spring clips passing over the upper loops of adjacent sections.
