859,572. Detecting infra-red radiation. AEROJET - GENERAL CORPORATION. May 2, 1957, No. 17271/60. Divided out of 859,571. Class 40(3). A device for transforming an infra-red image into a visible image comprises means 11 for forming the infra-red image in the device, an infra-red detector 21 for controlling an electric current and between this image and detector a moving reticule 15 having regions 17 transparent to both infra-red and visible light. A germanium coated mirror 20 between reticule 15 and detector 21 reflects visible light to an observer 24 but transmits infra-red light to the detector. The signal from the detector 21 is amplified at 22 to modulate the light beam of a neon lamp 25. The reticule may be rotated or reciprocated.
