[Also in Group XXI] A device for transforming an infra-red image into a visible image comprises means 11 for forming the infra-red image in the device, an infra-red detector 21 for controlling an electric current and between this image and detector a moving reticule 15 having regions 17 transparent to both infra-red and visible light. A germanium coated mirror 20 between reticule 15 and detector 21 reflects visible light to an observer 24 but transmits infra-red light to the detector. The signal from the detector 21 is amplified at 22 to modulate the light beam of a neon lamp 25. The reticule may be rotated or reciprocated. In a modification, Figs. 5 and 8, the device is associated with a gunsight, the reticule 42 comprising an opaque disc with pairs of slots duplicated 180 degrees apart, so that light from a lamp 51 is modulated partly by the activation of a detector 46 with light through one slot and partly by the corresponding slot through which it passes.
