[Also in Group XIII] The temperature in a heat insulated vehicle is regulated by heat exchange plates containing an eutectic or other heat storage liquid, a cooling coil 16 held against one face 7 of the plate by spaceers 14 engaging the other wall 8, and individual equally-spaced electric heaters 31 lying between runs of the coil 16 and inserted through apertures in one end wall 12. The supply to heaters 31 is controlled by a thermal element 35. One plate is disposed on each side wall of the storage space of the vehicle and, in cold ambients, the heaters are either supplied from a generator or battery on the vehicle or are energized beforehand to heat the eutectic which acts as a heat accumulator. For warm ambients, the coil 16 either acts as the evaporator of a compression refrigerating system controlled by the temperature of the storage space or is supplied with cold brine beforehand to freeze the eutectic which acts as a cold accumulator.
