Abstract

1277858 Utilizing solar heat O A CREMONESE 2 Jan 1971 215/71 Heading F4U [Also in Division H1] Apparatus for converting solar heat energy into electrical energy comprises a fully enclosed interior chamber, the walls (11 to 16, Fig. 1) of which include a plurality of thermocouples having cold junctions at the inside of the chamber and hot junctions at the outside of the chamber, and a refrigeration system which comprises a compressor 22, a condenser 24, and evaporator 23. The thermocouples are connected in series to provide a source of electrical energy, the electric motor of the compressor being energized by a portion of the source of electrical energy. Both the evaporator and the condenser are in heat exchange relation with the cold and hot junctions. The walls (11 to 16) comprise alternately-arranged elongate flat bars 17 and 18 of dissimilar metals, such as constanton and iron, interposed by insulating strips 19.
