Abstract

859,091. Slitting adhesive tape. ADHESIVE TAPES Ltd. June 18, 1958 [June 18, 1957], No. 19139/57. Class 31 (1). [Also in Group XVII] A tape dispenser of the kind adapted to hold a reel of tape and in which a length of tape remains extended and supported after the tape has been pulled and the required length cut, has a plurality of cutter blades 4 which are mounted side-by-side and are separately advanceable to slit the tape longitudinally at one or more selected positions. The blades 4, which may be razor blades, are provided in an attachment adapted to be secured to the dispenser and which comprises a bracket 1 and a stem 3. Each blade has a longitudinal slot through which the stem 3 passes and the blades are separated by distance-pieces 5 and held in position by a compression spring 6. The bottom of the bracket forms a guide for constraining the blades to slide in a longitudinal direction. The attachment may be fitted to the inner side of a lid of an openable dispenser.
