Abstract

859,003. Automatic control systems for electro-erosion. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. May 9,1957 [May 9, 1956], No. 14788/57. Class 38 (4). In apparatus for the electro-erosion of metal an electric motor drives means adjusting the relative positions of the electrode and workpiece, the motor being controlled by a magnetic amplifier to keep the working voltage between the electrodes constant. The workpiece 1 and counter-electrode 2 are spark-energized from converter 4. The gap voltage across terminals 7, 8 is in series-opposition with a reference voltage 6 in a circuit including a rectifier 9 to suppress extraneous negative voltage peaks, a rheostat 10 to provide sensitivity control, the output of a bridge circuit across terminals 17, 18 and the control windings 5A of a push-pull magnetic amplifier 5. The output of the amplifier is applied through leads 11, 12 or 13, 14 depending on polarity, to the bridge circuit in one arm of which is the D.C. motor armature 3a. When a voltage is applied to the bridge circuit the motor is energized and its back E.M.F. produces an unbalance voltage across terminals 17, 18. This voltage is applied as feed-back to the control windings producing more rapid response in the system. The motor adjusts the position of the counter-electrode relative to the workpiece.
