Abstract

858,733. Lubricating. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Feb. 11, 1959 [Feb. 14, 1958], No. 4857/59. Class 12 (3). [Also in Group XXIX] In a sewing-machine comprising a shaft 20 having a bore 21 through which lubricant is supplied to bearing-surfaces of eccentrics 33, 35, a sewing speed responsive valve 47 ... 50 is provided where the lubricant enters the bore 21 to obviate the supply of excess lubricant at low speeds. The valve comprises a spring-pressed gate member 47 which, at high speed, slides in a slot 46 and uncovers the bore 21. Lubricant within a reservoir 16 becomes agitated on rotation of an internal gear 24 and is thrown in a fine mist from about the reservoir, thereby entering the bore 21. To facilitate flow of lubricant by capillary action, a rod 44 is disposed in the bore 21. Specification 534,453 is referred to.
