Abstract

858,320. Automatic voltage regulators. NASTER, B. K. Nov. 21, 1958 [Nov. 21, 1957], No. 37566/58. Class 38 (4). An automatic voltage regulator comprises interconnected transformers 24, 26 and capacitors C 1 , C 2 . Primaries P 1 , P 2 of the transformers are connected in series across input terminals 16, 18 and secondaries S 1 , S 3 are connected in series between the junction of the primaries and an output terminal 12. The voltage across the secondary S 1 is in phase opposition to that across primary P 1 . The input terminal 18 is directly connected to an output terminal 14, feed-back is applied to the input, at terminal 16, through a secondary S 2 and the capacitor C 1 from the junction of secondaries S 1 > S 3 . Feed-back is applied across the primary P 1 by a parallel-connected secondary S 4 . A power factor correcting capacitor C 2 is connected across the output terminals. The cores of the transformers are arranged so that the secondaries S 2 -S 4 have a high leakage reactance.
