[Also in Group XXXII] In a portable conveyer having an endless conveying element carried by a support structure 11 which is mounted on a wheeled frame 10, the frame 10 is rectangular in plan and has a ground-engaging wheel 17 at each corner, each journalled in a separate bracket 18 which is mounted for independent swivelling about a vertical axis and is provided with separate releasable locking means to prevent such swivelling. Each bracket 18 swivels in a sleeve 14 on the frame 10, the bracket being bent to displace the axis of the wheel to one side of the axis of sleeve 14. The locking means consists of a dished plate 19 secured to the bracket 18 and a locking peg 22 which is vertically slidable in tubular frame member 12, and is engageable with either of two diametrically-opposed holes 20 in the plate 19. A spring 24 urges the peg 22 towards the plate 19. A bent handle part 23 of the peg 22 is adapted to engage a depression 26 in the member 12 to hold the peg in disengaged position. In use, the various wheels may be locked in forwardly or rearwardly turned positions or left free to pivot as desired for towing &c. In a modification (Fig. 5, not shown) the plate 19 is replaced by a disc having in addition to the two holes 20 a further hole to lock the wheel in an oblique position, so that when all the wheels are so locked the conveyer may be rotated about a vertical axis within the frame 10 for off-loading material picked up from one position to another position at an angle to the first position.
