Abstract

856,441. Rigid laminates; strawboard &c. panels. DIJKSTERHUIS, F., and DIJKSTERHUIS, H. U. Jan. 2, 1958 [Feb. 19, 1957], No. 216/58. Classes 96 and 140. A panel construction, suitable for packaging, insulation &c. and made, for example, of strawboard, comprises outer plates 1, 2, Fig. 2, and an inner member 3 of cellular form made from a similar plate in which spacer tongues are cut. Preferably spaced H-shaped incisions successively at right angles to one another, are made in the member 3 (see Fig. 1), the tongues 7, 8, 7<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>1</SP>, in adjacent cells so formed being bent downwardly and adhesively secured to the plate 2, the upper plate being secured to the material 11 between the cells which is preferably of smaller width than the tongues. The tips of the tongues may be bent at right angles for better adhesion to plate 2. The plates 1, 2 may be perforated for ventilation and the cells may contain sound- or heat-insulating material.
