In a conveyer system including a first truck 10 along which load-carrying trolleys 11 can move and a return track 14 along which the trolleys 11, after passage along the first track 10, are returned to their initial start point an endless driven chain 16 is provided adjacent the return track 14 and each trolley 11 has an arm, or projection 20 which when the trolley 11 is disposed on the return track 14, engages one flight of the chain 16 so that the chain 16 propels the trolley 11 along the return track 14. The end of the arm 20 is suitably grooved to accommodate links of the chain 16. The upper and lower flights of the chain 16 run in fixed channels 18, 19. The trolleys 11 are conveyed from the first track 10 to the return track 14 by a lift 13. The exit end of the return track 14 is downwardly inclined at 23 to provide a trolley storage track feeding a lift 15 which takes loaded trolleys downwards to the first track 10. A pivoted stop member 24, operated by the lift 15, feeds loaded trolleys one at a time on to the lift 15.
