[Also in Division B8] In a conveyer of the type having a tubular cross-section rail 35 which envelops a conveyer chain 38 and has a longitudinally extending slit 2 through which a carrier 64 for the load (not shown) extends, the rail encloses one or more members 36, 37, which are of cruciform crosssectioned shape so as to envelop the conveying chain 10. The carrier 64 may be permanently connected to the load (see Division B8) or as shown, pushers 58, 59, rigid with the chain 38, may operate to drive along a wheeled loadsupporting trolley 61. Instead of a trolley, the carrier 64 may be connected to a slide 70 (Fig. 20) running in a rail 66 similar to the rail 35. At selected stations, a section 74 (Fig. 21) of the rail 66 may be downwardly defectable so as to carry an upper stem part of the carrier 64 out of engagement with the chain 38. The load carrier may then be driven independently of the chain 38, by pushers 75 of an endless chain 76 (Fig 20) engaging a pusher 72 rigid with the load carrier.
